Hiking and Nordic walking
What are the cultural walks and what is their purpose?
The Sports Council of Les Garrigues, together with the Les Garrigues Study Center and with the collaboration of the Garrigues County Council, aims to promote and showcase the most emblematic corners of the county by encouraging the practice of physical activity.
These cultural walks, which offer the opportunity to discover and get started in Nordic walking, aim to promote physical activity linked to the cultural aspect, all while discovering the cultural and historical peculiarities of each town in the region.
A cultural walk will be held monthly (usually on the last Sunday of each month), where, with a cultural specialist, we will discover the different towns of the Garrigues and their most peculiar and little-known spots, which are unknown to many of the region's residents.
Additionally, on these cultural walks, those who wish can try Nordic walking and learn the technique from a certified Nordic walking instructor.
We discover and energize
Let's all work together for the county!!!
What is Nordic walking?
Nordic walking is a physical activity that involves walking with the aid of two poles. It originated in Finland as a form of summer training for cross-country skiers, and the number of practitioners is currently increasing considerably year after year.
It offers a simple, natural, and very effective way to improve your physical fitness and tone your muscles, regardless of age, sex, or fitness level.
In addition, it's fun, relaxing, and affordable. If the technique is used correctly, Nordic walking works most of the body's muscles without overloading the joints, with all the benefits that entails.
One of the main advantages of using walking sticks is that by engaging more of the body's muscle (studies show that up to 90% of muscles are activated), the body needs more energy to function. As a result, it burns more calories than traditional walking.
