JEEC
The Catalan School Sports Games (JEEC) is the program of the Generalitat de Catalunya which has as its main objective to promote the transmission of social values and the acquisition of healthy habits, through an educational and participatory model of school sports competition and activity.
The participants in the JEEC are children, adolescents, and young people from Catalonia from first grade through second year of high school. Before these ages, introductory competition activities may be held that can be considered a preliminary stage to a competition with scoring and ranking.
The categories of the JEEC are:
category | educational cycle |
Pre-primary | Elementary School (Early Years) |
Benjamin | Middle School (intermediate cycle) |
Junior | Upper Elementary |
Children's | Compulsory Secondary Education (Lower Secondary) |
Cadet | Compulsory Secondary Education (Second Cycle) |
Youth | High School and vocational training cycles |
Athletes and teams who register representing the school, the school's sports association, the school's parent-teacher association, and athletes and teams from other clubs or sports entities may participate in JEEC competitions/events.
During the same school year, an athlete may not participate in the JEEC in the same sport, representing two different entities.
Each entity must process the registrations with its sports council, and it will be mandatory for every athlete to have the JEEC sports license.
The technical regulations for the various sports in the JEEC competitions will be drafted by the Union of Sports Councils of Catalonia and approved by the Catalan Sports Council.
